A Change in Lifestyle

“There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.” ~Epictetus

My tiny gym
On November of 2009, I started doing research about vegan (and raw vegan) food preparation.  It was really time to change my lifestyle and way of thinking.  It is unbelievable the damage that you can do to your mind and body through stress and worrying.  The height of my worrying was my mother's illness.  I consider her not only my mother.....she has always been my best friend for life.  Constant worrying led to depression over the matter, and eating became more of a comfort.  That state of mind was not good for my health, or emotional well being.

It took me a while, but I have finally digested the fact that worrying over the things I cannot change does not bring about positive results, nor is it of help to myself or my family.  To overcome that, I am exercising and eating healthy.  Being a single parent mom, I'm not able to afford fancy gyms, so I use the simple equipment that I have at home.  When I'm done....I fold things up and move them aside.   I have also decided to take advantage of gyms at our lovely  recreation centers.  When I'm in the mood for a large gym full of adventure, I go hiking....one of my FAVORITE things to do!!!

The choice of including raw foods to my diet has worked out quite well, and when I had my last checkup, the doctor stated that my blood pressure is under control.  He added that the results were due to my way of eating and the weight release. You can imagine how happy I was about that!

One thing that I enjoy eating and preparing are salads.  To keep it fresh and interesting, I like to experiment preparing it a variety of ways.  This includes various dressings and toppings to give my salads an odd or different taste.  In my next post, I will share how I make a Vegan Southwestern Salad.  My sons love it!

Unless someone has personally or knows or has some one close to them go through losing a lot of excess weight, they really don't understand how amazing this is!

I haven't read Maryann Williamsons new book but it looks like it's a real good one - thought I'd share this with you...
