AFRO DIVA

This is journal that I created that is published in the September/October 2007 issue of The Rubber Stamper! Too exciting!!!! The design focus was about making handmade stamps. The carved image above was inspired by a drawing from an artist friend of mine named Beverly Booker. The retro background is a color copy of fabric from a book cover. Colorful beads echoing the colors of the retro background are handmade using Polymer Clay. Many thanks to the lovely Gloria Page for giving me more courage in learning to carve, and for teaching me to make dazzling journals and many other cool projects. Check out her wonderful book, Art Stamping Workshop! This book is a MUST HAVE for your library. Kick yourself if you pass it by.

I was happy to see your hand carved stamping too! I'd never heard of this until I stumbled upon Michelle Wards fun web site called "Green Pepper Press Street Team" http://michelleward.typepad.com/how_cool_is_that/ . She has a project once a month that we all take part in nad carving a rubber stamp was last months project! Check out her Crusade #18. I posted my attempt if you haven't seen it already on my blog...
